I spent today loafing about. Very productive. Try it.
I should have written something, then again Dark Knight kind of morphed on me when after reading OotP for the first time and the focus of the story changed.
I have mentioned Dark Knight occasionally ever since I started a fandom weblog. I had this mother of all plot bunnies when waiting for the bus back in early June 2001 when I'd just entered the fandom. The focus was set pretty early on and the only things that were developing the most, were side-plots along with the ending.
But OotP changed a lot. And Sirius' death had very little to do with it.
What changed was the focus ... instead of concentrading on Draco, the focus turned on Ron and Hermione. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it was Draco in OotP and the fact that he participated in the Umbridge Jugend thus siding with evil - the Umbridge brand of evil. Maybe it was that Fred and George reacted so violently to him after the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin game.
I honestly don't know ... the plot bunny just developed that way.
Last time I talked about Dark Knight was in this entry. I was also refering to the sequels to Dark Knight I've planned somewhat and they still stand mostly unchanged.
Few facts about my OCs:
*One is a Weasley in Slytherin
-This one still stands since this refers to the sequels.
*Seamus Finnigan will sleep with one.
-I think this one no longer applies since I'm not sure I'll be using the OC that sleeps with Seamus.
*There will be an Icelandic OC.
-Likewise this one. I'm kind of glad since this was a very irritating OC.
*Extended cameo would be more appropriate term for one.
-Like I would kick her out. Never.
*Pepito Lopes: the most annoying OC ever
-Oh, Pepito still lives.
*Peter, a Ravenclaw, hopefully will surprise you
-In some ways he has gained more weight.
*And yes, I will include a clueless Muggle.
-She will be there. Not that clueless though. Blame Hermione for that.
My biggest problem at the moment is that I think Dark Knight needs a new title. I'm not that good with titles.
But basically the story I'm planning right now, will deal with the aftermath of the second war. The trio will be around twenty and I'll prove my Quillness in the ships of choice. I'd love to include Dumbledore's Army in it and evil is still present. I'm not sure what to say more about it.
I was poking around in my LJ archive and I found this entry.
Predictions for OotP
-That supposed Dementors attack on Privet Drive will take place on Harry's birthday
Nobe. Surprisingly we didn't watch Harry experience his birthday. We just had mentionings that his friends sent him cards and gifts.
-Harry will not visit the Burrow in this book. (This is because this book is an odd numbered book while his Burrow visits have occured in even numbered books).
Didn't visit the Burrow but I admit that my reasoning is a bit odd :D
-Hermione is the only one of the trio to be made a Prefect.
Was proven wrong. Ron became a prefect :D
-The DADA teacher will be a new character (not Arabella Figg).
Right there but what a character. *shudder*
-Harry's first proper introduction to the Order of the Phoenix will be in typical Harry-accidental manner. The Order of the Phoenix is of course a group of people who fight against Dark wizards.
Ok, the Order fights against Voldemort and his cohort so my description was a bit vague but I wouldn't say that Harry's introduction to them was accidental in any way. So not much on the money there.
-Hermione isn't going to have much luck in her house elf crusade, especially when Winky seeks vengance for her master.
Hermione doesn't have much luck but I certainly wasn't right about Winky ... it was Kreacher who was the "evil" house elf.
-Ron's formal dress robes will not be aired at a ball but at someother formal function where Harry and he are bored to death.
Ron's dress robes weren't aired at all but he got them.
-Ch. 23. The kiss. Will happen at some rather normal circumstances, like the trio doing their homework. I predict that it will be so hilarious that everyone's first reaction is to burst out laughing before actually realizing what happened.
No proper R/H kiss. Only Hermione's peck on Ron's cheek in ch. 19 (The Lion and the Serpent).
-QUIDDITCH. Plenty of Quidditch. JKR has to pay for a whole schoolyear without Quidditch and with Ron on the team, you can bet on Quidditch taking more space. And eventhough I would love for one of the girl (Angelina, Alicia, Katie) to be captain, I think the honour will be bestowed upon Harry since he's been with the team for this long and is still just a fifth year (has more years left).
Wrong about the captain. It was Angelina (GIRL POWER!) and while there was Quidditch, it didn't do much to lighten up the mood of the book. I mean, Ron's zero self-confidence and the Slytherins taunting him, and Umbridge banning Harry and the twins from the team. But yeah, Ginny getting on the team was cool even though she was replacing Harry.
-Dumbledore will reveal certain secrets to Harry but not without an abrupt interuption.
No abrupt interuption but reading it for the first time was HARD. You know what I mean.
-The death. I'm going to be boring and predictable and say Hagrid. Because it will have such an impact on Harry, Hagrid was there when he first learned about the Wizarding World and Hagrid's probably the person Harry takes most for granted of everyone close to him.
No. It was Sirius. Nuff said.
-Percy. Will do the "safe thing" and side with the Ministry. Dark wizards will start to infiltrade the Ministry.
Did side with the Ministry in more severe manner than I anticipated. Lucius being best mates with Fudge could count as Dark wizards infiltrading the Ministry.
-Ginny. Might get to be in one of the trio's secrets and thus Harry will start to notice her more. I don't see much romance yet though. And Harry's crush on Cho will be declared dead after being actually being so since the Leaving Feast in GoF.
Ginny is much on with the trio. So are Neville (Neville!) and Luna. Harry has started to notice her. No romance between them yet. H/C wasn't dead at the Leaving Feast but it is dead now. Still I liked the H/C bits in the "funny, hormonal, teenage, angsty, no clue" way.
-Draco. Will continue to be all talk and no game. Perhaps Harry will finally hit him (since Ron and Hermione had already done so in the other odd numbered books). (I have some hopes for Draco but I don't think he'll change much in OotP).
Harry hits him after the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin game. And Draco is still all talk and no game.
-Harry will not come in direct contact with Voldemort but Wormtail might show up since we'll be expecting more R/S Remus and more Sirius.
Wormtail absent. Voldemort makes an appearance. We got more Remus, more Sirius *sniff* and R/S is canon.
-And yeah, we'll witness both Ron's and Hermione's birthdays.
No. Actually we didn't.
And I seem to be hooked on Crazy in Love with Beyoncé ... strange since I never liked Destiny's Child.
