It’s this time again and I still remember vividly signing up for Yuletide for the first time, ten years ago. I’m still so excited about this exchange, I’ve had marvelous time so far participating and I hope this year will be no different. I hope the same goes for you, lovely mystery author.
Let’s get into the requests.
Fandom: Sagnet om Lysets rike | The Legend of the Realm of Light - Margit Sandemo
Characters: Dolg, Marco
Prompt: What if Dolg and Marco were in a relationship (like Henrich Reuss probably fantasized about)? I acknowledge that for the most part they are portrayed as being asexual. That‘s actually something that would be interesting to see explored within a romantic relationship. Alternatively, I just like something from their point of view. It can be either one or both and it can just be about something mundane or any event in the books that would be interesting to get their take on.
I’ll admit I’m slightly reworking a prompt from a couple of years ago. And someone did write me a Sagnet on Lysets rike fic though they used the alternative prompt I gave back then (and did a great job with it). I’m just being greedy here. But this thought of Dolg and Marco being in a relationship hasn’t left my mind. It was repeated again and again in the books that Dolg and Marco weren‘t made for earthly love or whatever it was called. And then Marco drinks the clear water and BOOM, suddenly that has changed. Yeah, I wasn‘t impressed. So my prompt is a bit of a fix-it. When you‘ve got an author like Margit Sandemo who retcons her retcons, you‘re allowed to ask for a fix-it. Plus I just think Marco and Dolg deserved a better ending to their narrative than they got. And also I want to see asexuality explored with people who are in a relationship. Dolg does have an idea about his own sensuality even though he never desires anyone. While Marco and Dolg can be read as aromantic as well, I‘m not as keen on that aspect to be explored.
As for the alternative prompt, I imagine both Dolg and Marco, who have both been to different worlds/dimensions, they must have some deeper thoughts and opinions on Lysets rike than we get from them in the books. If you need a starting point that is. But I’ll be very happy to get a story feature those two.
Fandom: Sagaen om Isfolket | Legend of the Ice People - Margit Sandemo
Characters: Any character
Prompt: So there was a bit of hodge-podge of characters nominated for this fandom this year so a prompt for all of them? I was actually one of those who nominated Isfolket and my nominated character was Ingrid. I‘d love a bit of a fix-it for her. A redheaded witch like her deserved a good juicy romance. So if you‘re up for that, go ahead. I don’t have any specific romantic interest for her in mind. For Heike, I’d like something more interesting going on with his travels through Europe than that vampire castle or whatever it was in book 20. I mean, he’s travelling through Europe in the late 18th Century. As for Targenor and Tiili, what about a slice-of-life about them as kids? Before all that business with Tengel the Evil. As for Tova, I kind of want to rework an ancient prompt from a Yuletide past. Where I requested a fic where Marco falls for Tova and they actually hook up.
I’m not sure if I can elaborate further on this. When it comes to Ingrid, I did want a proper love affair for her. Not that drug-induced romp she had with Dan. Not to mention the guy she married that we never got to know. And then the thing with Ulvhedin when they were both old. I want something more juicy as I said but I’m not picky on the romantic partner though.
I suppose I can elaborate a little bit more on what I’d like in a fic about Tova. I think it would be rather awesome if Marco would have fallen for her while she was still a little bit evil. Or you know, go some AU route with this
.
The thing with all these prompts is that they are optional. Optional details are optional after all. Just this is what I love to see with these characters. But if you have an idea in mind that you want to write, then go ahead. Just beware of my DNWs.
Fandom: Simon-Verse – Becky Albertalli
Character: Any character
Prompt: I love stories about first love so both installments of the Simon-Verse make me very happy. I just want love dovey stuff between Simon and Bram or Leah and Abby. A first time story would be lovely if that’s something you’d like to write but more PG stuff would be dandy as well.
I just finished reading Leah on the Off-Beat and I loved her PoV voice. My precious little ball of angst and self-doubt. But I did love that she and Abby got their shit together and became awesome girlfriends. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda is also a gem and Simon is also a doll of a character. I don’t know, there’s just so much potential for copious amounts of adorable fluff with these characters and I’m all for that. I think a realistic but a cute first time story about either of these pairs would be so awesome. But a story with all of them hanging out would be great too.
In general, I like to think I’m easy to please. I love romance, a good dialogue, stories with communication, emotions and stuff that feels genuine. I love it when stories are true to the canon, even if they are AUs.
I do read dark fic from time to time, but I want to be in total control when I read it. I’m not against little bits of angst but please go easy on death and destruction. Also, I want to read unhappy endings on my own terms, not in a gift fic.
When it comes to any type of bigotry, it has to fit the setting if you know what I mean. The time period the story takes place in, the setting and so on. And it must be relevant to the story. I’m probably stating the obvious but better safe than sorry.
Kink-wise, I love me some steamy fanfiction but like with the dark stuff, I like to control when I read stories with the heavier kinks. Stuff like light BDSM is fine but nothing heavier than that. And please, please stay far away from blood play.
