I'm slightly irritated. But let's not talk about that. Let's have a meme instead.

Very Good Taste's Christmas Fifty

1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve tasted.
3) Place an asterisk after all the items you’ve cooked/prepared.
4) Optional: Cross out anything you never want to try, or add an exclamation mark after anything your really want to try.

You’re also welcome to post a link to your version of the list here at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk.

The VGT Christmas Fifty
1. Crystallised or candied fruits
2. Egg nog
3. Bûche de Noël, or Yule log (A rather underwhelming experience, like a very dried up chocolate cake with too much icing).
4. Rum balls
5. Bebinca
6. Roasted chestnuts
7. Cavallucci
8. Tourtière
9. Uszka
10. Port & Stilton (Never together)
11. Hallaca
12. Roast goose (I've never been a fan of goose but I've always eaten a wild goose - I do want to try a farm-bred goose)
13. Lefse (I wouldn't think that lefse was very Christmasy but you never know with those Norwegians)
14. Sugar plums
15. Romeritos (Never tried it but sound delicous)
16. Pinnekjøtt
17. Hot toddy *
18. Christmas cake
19. Tamales
20. Sorpotel
21. Panettone
22. Candy canes
23. Pasteles
24. Speculaas
25. Makowiec
26. Christmas pudding
27. Stollen (I tasted the most amazing stollen the other day - someone at work brought in a stollen from Dresen and it literally melted on my mouth).
28. Figgy pudding
29. Lebkuchen
30. Turrón
31. Mince pies
32. Wassail bowls
33. Buñuelos
34. Pio Quinto
35. Marzipan fruits
36. Mulled wine (God, I want glögg now)
37. King cake
38. Christmas beach barbecue
39. Cola de mono
40. Lutefisk
41. Kutia
42. Pizzelle
43. Dominostein
44. Cranberry sauce
45. Pfeffernüsse (That is, I've eaten the Danish version and I actually have a few in a box now - very tasty)
46. Satsumas or clementines (One of my favourte food-related things about Christmas)
47. Pumpkin pie
48. Smalahove (This is called svið where I'm from, not a Christmas related food but I kind of like it.)
49. Nut roast
50. Brandy butter

And this list is woefully short on other Scandinavian Christmas food related traditions other than Norwegian. I mean, what about Denmark and Sweden? Their Christmas traditions blow Norway out of the chart. So I'll give a list of few selected item of the Danish-Swedish-Icelandic Christmas Food list.

Danish
Lune leverpostej (warm pork liver pâté) (This is so yummy with sautéed mushrooms and fried bacon)
Ice-cold akvavit
Flæskesteg (A proper flæskesteg with cracklings is easily one of my favourite dishes in the whole world)
Rødkål
Ris á l'amande
Juleøl
Swedish
Julskinke
The Christmas version of Smörgåsbord, Julbord.
Icelandic
Kæst skata (You think lutefisk is scary? Kæst skata is lutefisk's smelly, creepy old uncle)
Rjúpa
Hangikjöt
Laufabrauð
Jólaöl
