Shit, I've finished the HBP
Jul. 16th, 2005 10:11 amBefore I started rambling incoherently (under the cut of course), I just want to give a review of sorts. It's something that was exchanged between
misspince and myself earlier this morning (through text messaging).
Me: "This book fucking rocks!"
Miss Pince: "Dude, you don't say!"
What a book, what a book! In my humble opinion it's up there with PoA.
Where to start. Well, I loved the first chapter. JKR knows how to write politicians, Muggle or magical.
Then Spinner's End, dude. The Unbreakable Oath. Narcissa's and Snape's hands! (everyone were wrong there but then again it just shows whose writing the books, not us for sure).
Horace Slughorn, good character there. Interesting breed of a Slytherin.
The scenes from Voldemort's life were extremely interesting, just such a riveting read and of course got the brain working. Voldemort's family. DUDE! Inbred like whoa! That Morfin guy! And then Voldemort's mum and her story!
The whole deal with the Half-Blood Prince! Damn. And just the whole thing with Snape. Blows me so totally away.
I was wrong about not seeing a full Quidditch season but again Harry wasn't able to play the full season. And again Ginny saved the day.
The Horcruxes! This theory with Voldemort storing parts of his soul elsewhere isn't new to me but still! So freaking cool!
And Dumbledore, when he talks about how Harry managed to keep his ability to love through all this. Damn! And damn, I did expect Dumbledore to die but still, the funeral was so incredibly beautiful.
And as for the lighter stuff. There was lots and lots of trio friendship which I adore to pieces. And the ships! There are quite few who were right there. About Harry/Ginny becoming a reality and damn, it was so gratifying that I kind of had to chill in an orgasmic afterglow there. Even though Harry did the "stupid, noble" thing and parted from her. I doubt that will last forever.
And Ron and Hermione. We were kind of knocked over with them even though they haven't got their stuff together yet. Hermione couldn't have been more obvious with her feelings and Ron has hopefully exercised certain things out with Lavender (that was amusing to say the least). And at the funeral where she's crying into his shoulder and he's stroking her hair!
As for couple of other ships, I had a weakness for Bill/Fleur ... was almost turned off but damn, Fleur. Then she had to show it again that she's a lot more than she looks like. Poor Bill though.
As for Remus/Tonks. Several people on my friendslist can kill me now but I liked it because I was feeling so awfully sorry for them both in what we saw them in the book for the most part and if they can be happy together, well, that makes me glad. (And this certainly doesn't rule out any past -Sirius/Remus because Remus can be bi for all we know so far).
Other things that I can remember at the moment. Blaise Zabini! He seems interesting. Draco. Dude! Hello, three dimensional Draco! Hello, Draco who can't kill Dumbledore. And Kreacher belonging to Harry!
I could probably think of more but I'm going to get an hour of worth of sleep or so before embarking on a journey to London to meet up with
misspince and
seviet.
