Nothing I tell you, nothing!
Apr. 19th, 2005 12:10 amWhat does one do when one could be writing an essay, a fic, reading a book or something else that is useful? One watches Eurovision videos.
And then one updates one's LJ with ramblings about the videos.
Am not commenting on every country competing
Bulgaria
Very funny lyrics ... all about "Lorraine in the rain". Interesting rhyming there.
Croatia
The song is called "Wolves die alone" but was entirely in Croatian so I didn't understand a thing. So in my mind the song is about Remus mourning Sirius. The singer was vaguely Remus-y and wore funeral clothes.
Estonia
Interesting lyrics.
C'mon girls sing along that song
Shake the house till the early morning
Boring yesterday is gone
So let's get loud
Contestant #1 in "Which lyrics are the ones who are most obviously written by a non-native English speaker?"
F.Y.R. Macedonia
It’s plain to see
I’m not the man to be
Your cuddly toy
I’m the boy
Who will break up with you
To be free

Hungary
Sung by a scantly-clad girl surrounded by dancing Orthodox Jews. Very interesting.
Ireland
A boy and a girl singing. The boy looks and sounds like he's twelve which he probably is. Can't say that was a wise choice.
Latvia
Cute boys who play guitars. And the lyrics are vaguely pacifistic. I liked them a lot.
Moldova
Obviously ripped off the Turkish song from last year. (Folkish-reggae).
Norway
OMGWTFBBQGLAMROCK!?!?!?
Kind of fun and kitsch but I'm not sure if everyone will get the joke. The song was OK.
Russia
Interesting lyrics. About school-shootings in America.
You deny the truth, you just having fun
Till your child will shoot your gun
Don’t you dare to say, her reaction’s dump
Cause she had no place to run.
Serbia & Montenegro
Cute boyband with a folk song! I kind of liked it. (Must remember not to tell Romana that 'cause she's not very fond of Serbs).
Spain
Kind of like Las Ketchup or whatever they were called and they even have a special dance for the video.
Sweden
Leather trousers!!
Mmm, kind of didn't notice the song, was about Las Vegas I think.
Switzerland
Heh. They took a girl punk band (called Vanilla Ninja) and Eurovision-ed them.
Ukraine
A very rare things. A song in the Eurovision that actually means something. From what I hear (and saw in the video), it's about the orange revolution. That's cool.
UK
Some vague Eastern influences. Really, if they had just had the gust to put a proper Bhangra tune in the Eurovision, now that would have rocked.
Btw. I think the Icelandic song is pretty cool. Love the video though it makes me homesick like hell because it's mostly shot in my neighbourhood.
