Watched Troy for the first time since I saw it at the cinema back in May. I think I've found out what exactly is its biggest flaw. No, it's not Diane Krüger who thought she ought to play dead through out the film or the bastardization of The Iliad. It's the fact that the film makers didn't quite decide what was the theme of the film. Is it honour and glory in war and death? Is it all wars are meaningless and only bring death and destruction? A good film about war has a solid theme, All Quiet on the Western Front quite clearly states that all war is meaningless. The LotR trilogy states that war and the loss of war is necessary to vanquish evil. When the solid direct theme is lacking, all the glorious battle sequences, the elaborate death scenes etc. lose their barb and the film becomes flatter for it.
Been thinking about the Nightmare Pairing Pledge and seen that there are people who had hard time defining their least favourite character. Some mentioned it could be the character you found least aesthetically pleasing which would be Umbridge in my case. So Ron/Umbridge ... and I know that has been written. Also have written smut with Umbridge myself and it did include one of my favourite characters.
