1. How long have you been in fandom?

I've been in the Harry Potter fandom since spring 2001 so that would make five years. I've been in fandom generally since 1999 when I signed up on a couple of Isfolket mailing lists.

2. How did you discover fandom/what was your route into it?

I found the mailing lists when I had been looking for some Isfolket stuff on the net. I learned about fanfiction when I was looking for Dawson's Creek spoilers sometimes in 2000 but didn't get hooked then and there. Then I reread the Harry Potter books around the Easter of 2001 and just felt that Ron and Hermione should kiss already so I decided to check if anyone had written something that might satisfy me in that respect. I planned to take a quick look at what ff.net had to offer in the HP fanfiction department. Best laid plans ...

3. Do you actively participate in any forums you may wish to pimp to me? Any you joined then but would not set foot in now?

I was much better at the forum thing during my first years of fandom, so much that I was made a mod at the Sugar Quill which was the epicentre of my earlier HP fandom life. I really don't visit any forums nowadays.

4. How did you discover LJ, and what made you get one?

People started acquiring those in the fall of 2001 so I knew about them for a long time before I got mine. I had a blogspot blog for a time but then I gave up and caved in and asked for a LJ code as everyone and their dog seemed to be on LJ.

5. How did you come up with your username?

Me and misspince were discussing it and she suggested I should use something Icelandic so I decided to go with the name of my favourite Njal's saga character, Hildigunnur Starkaðsdóttir. Since then people have often shorten it to Hildi which I totally understand.

6. Who is your favourite character, and why?

Ron. No question about that. He's loyal and with a great sense of humour but I think his faults and short-comings are what make him endearing to me, his lack of confidence, his short temper etc. He's so normal and does all those stupid things you do when you're his age.

7. Have your opinions changed towards any characters/ships in your time in fandom?

For my five years in the HP fandom, I've been pretty much static. Ron/Hermione is still my favourite ship etc. I've come to like more and more ships with time, especially all the Ron slash ships. But there are a couple of ships I've liked in the fanon which I don't like so much any more. I used to read a bit of Harry/Draco when I first got into slash but now I'm just all "meh, I don't feel like reading H/D" and I've been that way for a long time. The same goes for Draco/Ginny.

8. Do you write/draw within fandom? What made you start?

I do both. I'd been drawing fanart long before I enter the fandom as I've had the habit of illustrating books I like since I was a kid. The writing started when I was very new in the HP fandom and didn't find a lot of Fred and George stories. So I decided to write it.

9. Does what you write/draw differ from what you would read? How so? What are your biggest kinks/squicks?

Hmm, I think I do read more Harry/Ginny and trio fic than I write. I definitely read more Marauders fic than I write. But I've written stuff I haven't read much, my George/Luna fic is a good example but that's more because George/Luna is still a rare ship.

My kinks - I love a bit of D/s, some bondage too. Realistic sex and stuff like that. Well-written hurried sex, public sex.

Incest squicks me for the most part. I can handle chan in certain situations but usually it doesn't do anything for me. I HATE bloodplay, it doesn't squick me, I just go "WTF did they go cutting themselves all up'"

10. Of what piece of your work are you most proud, and why (link, please). Non-writers/artists, please can I have a link to something you love?

Of my writing, it's probably Giving Up Control as it's the story I was most able to convey what I wanted write. Of my art, I think that my Pippin and Merry in the House of Healing sketch and painting are my best fanart pieces as again I feel like I managed to convey what I wanted.

Probably to England. I miss England a lot.

Njal's saga because it has everything and it's original. Written in the 13th century.
