Annoyances
Aug. 10th, 2005 11:16 amIt appears that Remus (my laptop) has decided to take control of my procrastination. The CD/DVD drive has stopped working. (When I put a disc in, the drive makes a lot of noise and then claims there's no disc in the drive). And since it would be most inconvenient to send the laptop away to be fixed at this moment in time (due to the dissertation), I think I'll just have to suffer. Am now regretting having deleted all the Lost episodes I had on the computer (I did burn them first but that is not going to help me now).
And since I'm already irritated, I can rant about a couple of fic pet peeves I have.
First of all, I hate it when people have Hermione call Ron "Ronald" in fics. She never does in canon (and believe me, I've checked). It's only in PoA the film that she does and that's not Rowling, that's Steve Kloves with his Super!Hermione. Come to think of it, I think Dumbledore and Luna are the only ones to call Ron "Ronald".
The second thing is something that I sometimes can ignore when the fic in question is otherwise good but I do hit saturation point every now and then. It's when a Weasley is described to have freckles everywhere. Maybe this bothers me because I have do have freckles myself and I know how I got them, with prolonged exposure of sun on those particular bits of my skin. Unless you can come up with credible explanation for the Weasleys being naked outside whenever the sun shines, I'm not buying any freckled private parts they might have. Thank you.
