Found my #1 reason why I don't ship H/H. I need sexual tension ... I don't see any sexual tension between Harry and Hermione. Yes, I realize that means I see sexual tension between Hermione and Ron and talking about sexual tension between 14-15 yrs olds, is a bit gritty ... but I think it is there. Where do I see the sexual tension? Mostly in the fact that Ron and Hermione get jealous. Chris Colombus decided even to take it a step further with the awkward handshake. Making it like it was hard for them to hug because there was obvious physical attraction which they naturally weren't ready to handle.
I'm going to do a bit of prediction about the future books. We know that JKR has said that she's going to include more boy-girl stuff in the next book. I think that she's also going to deal a bit more with sex. I don't think that we are going to witness much but she's going to allow them to keep maturing with everything that comes with that. And she already has.
They are already experiencing this. Ron makes the comment about himself going naked instead of wearing the maroon dress robes and we have read about Harry naked (taking a bath) with someone spying on him. With that, they are made more carnal. Then the veela thing emphazises on their hormones IMO.
In this, Hermione is more subtle. You need to dig a bit deeper for her. First, she's seeing/friends with an older boy who is very taken with her. If pondered, this opens few questions on how far their relationship developes.
Then there's one thing that points out to how at least Ron's thoughts are getting carnal. Ron says that the Witch Weekly article makes Hermione out as a scarlet woman. Scarlet here meaning flagrantly immoral or unchaste (source). That's a pretty sexual term for Ron to use IMO. And awfully clever of JKR to use because most people will much rather be laughing over the dated language that Ron is using than to see that he's using an old expression for a slut. I find that oh-so clever of JKR.
I have become addicted to this radio station. Loads of old skool tunes. Mucho fun picking old skool hip hop and drum'n'bass songs.
